From world citizen to young internationalist

Time changes, all the time around us. Time flies when you’re having fun. Time can change step by step or it can leapfrog. In such situations, you can do three things: you can sit at the side and watch as a conservative as things go by and the world changes, you can try to row against the stream, or you can join the driving train and use your creativity to make the best out of it.

In this case, I chose the last option. I felt it was time for a small change. The word ‘world citizen’, according to me, seemed no longer in place for the aim of this weblog and the brain behind it. In an increasingly interconnected, complex, and both wealthy and insecure world,  I am searching for new ways to contribute to the existing changes in my way, within my possibilities.

Out of that, the idea for a new name for this weblog appeared: Young Internationalist. It covers more correctly what I’m up to these days and what I hope to reach here:  to give a young, fresh view on the world. It is meant to inspire fellow young people around the world to contribute to sustainable development, international justice and bridging the gap between rich and poor.

Kind regards,

Christopher Baan
